Michael Nacol Recognized as a “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers 2006, a recognition awarded to only 2% of Texas attorneys.
Managing partner, Michael Nacol was born in Houston, Texas and attended Second Baptist School for 14 years. His finishing rank at Second Baptist High School was #1 and he thereafter went on to Duke University, the only college to which he applied. After graduating in just three years from Duke with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish and a Certification in Markets in Management, Mr. Nacol involved himself in real estate as a private investment analyst. He spent his first six months after college as the lead analyst on an investment deal valued at over $1 Billion USD.
Thereafter Mr. Nacol’s experiences lead him to an internal consulting position at one of the nation’s top consulting firms. With a strong desire to have a greater impact in the world, Mr. Nacol turned his attention to the legal field in 1999 with an internship at Fulbright and Jaworski, LLP. While completing his studies at Pepperdine School of Law in Malibu, California, Mr. Nacol was honored and recognized as a top verbal advocate and student of international law.
Having lived, worked and studied in Spain, London, Malibu, Miami, North Carolina, and of course, Texas, Mr. Nacol understands the value of diversity and thinking outside of the box. In his own words, his legal successes are attributable to simple day-to-day principles, “I credit my track record to the following: 1) the Lord has blessed me with talents that are best used in the courtroom; 2) I only take cases I believe in; 3) I work extremely hard to win. Do not be fooled, we are in the business of winning and to win, you have to have everything planned out from day one.”
While working with Walter Umphrey, lead counsel of the $17.4 Billion Texas tobacco litigation, Mr. Nacol had numerous opportunities to resolve cases involving big money. In fact, Mr. Nacol’s largest case involved a patent infringement case with patent rights valued in excess of $3,000,000,000. When asked about the case, Mr. Nacol stated: “No other attorneys wanted to give the clients a shot and I just hoped we could find them justice. I successfully fought past some major hurdles in court and ultimately the clients were satisfied after we were able to reestablish their patent rights through a mediated settlement. Sometimes people just need someone who is willing to fight for them. After standing up to the challenge, the rest came easy.”
Mr. Nacol still understands the importance of personal involvement.
